Teal Transformation

3 floors 6 rooms home family of 4

Take a look inside a home that traded cold white walls for deep teal tones and warm wood textures. This project is a perfect example of how smart design and a bit of color can turn a sterile house into a soulful family haven that is built for real life.

When I first stepped into this house the foundation was there but the soul was missing. The ground floor was dominated by cold marble look tiles and a lifeless white kitchen that did not reflect the vibrant personality of the family living there. My goal was clear. I wanted to move away from clinical minimalism and create a warm modern sanctuary that celebrates color and texture and the family's cherished collections.
The heart of this transformation started with the floors. We replaced the cold ceramic with wood look flooring which immediately shifted the energy of the home. It provided a durable and visual warmth that the entire ground floor was craving. Then we introduced the teal. Most people are a bit hesitant to use bold colors but I believe they give a home its heartbeat. We used a deep and sophisticated teal to anchor the kitchen and create a dramatic focal point behind the television which added so much depth and character to the space.
Since the clients love to surround themselves with their favorite objects we moved away from the idea of hidden storage and designed extensive open shelving. This allowed their personal story to become part of the interior decor. We even turned a structural challenge into a design feature by integrating a brick wall that was hiding beams and pipes into the shelving unit itself. I always believe that design should solve everyday problems with style. One of my favorite details in this project is the hidden docking station for the robot vacuum. We built a custom cupboard under the stairs and created a discreet entry point right under the very first step. It keeps the floor clear and the technology out of sight.
Regarding the lighting we decided to keep the existing fixtures but added one beautiful statement piece over the dining table to create an intimate focus for family meals. Because I think every home needs a sense of humor we introduced a playful monkey lamp in the guest bathroom to give visitors a little surprise.
The transformation followed us upstairs where the bathrooms underwent a massive change. We wanted these spaces to feel like a high end retreat so we used travertine ceramics to bring in those warm and sandy tones that feel so natural and timeless. To perfectly complement the stone we added wood cabinets that bring an extra layer of organic warmth and texture to the rooms. In the primary bathroom we designed an extra large double shower for that ultimate spa feeling and we even included a urinal to make the space perfectly functional for the family specific needs. Every choice was about balancing that clean modern look with actual comfort. Looking at the result it is no longer just a building. It is a soulful home that is perfectly tailored to the family who lives there.
